From Rainford via Kirkby, Croxteth Hall & Park, Liverpool Loop Line, Queens Drive, Penny Lane, Sefton Park, Otterspool Park and promenade, through the Royal Albert Dock to the Pier Head with its iconic waterfront and Beatles Statue (and hopefully a view of a docked cruise ship). Return via Otterspool Promenade past Liverpool Cricket Club and Calderstones Park to Strawberry Fields, John Lennon's childhood home, and onto Woolton Village and Eleanor Rigby's Grave and St. Peters Church Hall where it all began for The Fab Four. Through Gateacre Village, Huyton Quarry, Stadt Mowers Park to Whiston; on to Burrows Lane, Howards Lane to East Lancs Road and to Rainford by pass and finish back at Holdi in Rainford.

A longer than usual but varied ride on a mix of quiet country lanes, park and woodland cycle paths, busy urban roads, even busier city roads, the Mersey waterfront and promenade to the Pier Head with its iconic landmark buildings and Beatles statue and return.

Most of the route is on hard surfaced roads and paths with a very short section of unmade, but compacted, path in Croxteth Park. We will be using established and protected cycle routes where possible/practical and the promenade fronting the river Mersey.

This is a longer than usual ride. We will be stopping for food and drink once we have visited the Pier Head in Liverpool and on our way back, probably at the Britannia Pub on Otterspool Promenade or the cafe at Otterspool Park. Please ensure that you have your own additional snacks and fluids for the extra long journey. There will also be ample stops and photo opportunities en route.

We would expect all our riders to wear helmets and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. Please also ensure that you have spare inner tubes and/or the means to carry out puncture repairs. You will also need a pump, cycle lock and money for food and drink.

This is a longer than usual route for the group and we will ride at an average of 10-12 mph but we will never leave anyone behind!!!
