PR1 4LX

We set of from Frenchwood carpark and ride along a short stretch of residential road to join the Guildwheel cyclepath. We turn right onto the path and head through Avenham and Miller parks . We follow the River Ribble all the way to Preston marina where we cross the over the water using the cyclepath provided. We then continue on the path until we reach our destination, a small viewing point where we get a great view the Preston skyline and get the opportunity to watch the varied birdlife that can be found on this stretch of the river. Look out for Teales, Herons, Shell ducks Canada geese and Terns that have taken up residence at the marina. We now retrace our steps back as far as the old cobbled bridge here we cross to the south side of the river and make use of the south ribble cycle paths. Enjoy the great view of the parks we have just come through and prepare yourself for short sharp climbs. On reaching tram bridge we ride up to join tram road and head away from the river to climb gently to reach Preston Junction . Here we double back on ourselves, tackling a short sharp climb to be rewarded with another view of the Preston Skyline. Next we have a short descent quickly followed by another short ascent which leads us to the old railway bridge with great views of the river, parks and the Yorkshire hills in the distance. We then descend to the Japanese garden , head up towards miller walk turning left and passing through Miller park . We then descend to the carpark and rejoin the guild wheel path back to our starting point. This is a scenic ride with lots to lookout for along the river and a few testing climbs rewarded with great views.
We will aim for an average speed of 8-10 miles an hour

This route will suit women who are new or returning to cycling. But as with all Breeze ride all women are welcome.

The route is entirely traffic free. We cycle along the Guild wheel path and connecting cycleways in south ribble. All bikes are suitable for this terrain but must be in a road worthy condition.

We will take a breather at the viewpoint and also at the top of the climbs to allow the group to come back together.

Please bring some water and a snack . Be prepared for cold/warm/wet weather conditions. Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet. Prior to the start of the ride there will be a short bike check and safety brief but please make sure that your bike is in working order before joining the ride. Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair

This is a small friendly group of women who enjoy a gentle ride round the parks and cycleways in our area. We love to welcome new members and we never leave anyone behind.
