** Rescheduled to 20th August due to the extreme temperatures. **

Starting from the Timberlake Car Park off Radlett Road in North Watford this longer, "Steady+" paced route goes through North Watford, Garston, Bricket Wood and How Wood to the Waffle House in St Albans where we can enjoy their scrummy waffles and coffee or a full lunch if you feel like it.

We will also have an additional stop at the St Albans Cycle Hub on the way back, to visit their new facilities and enjoy their Open Day. Please note due to a planned rail strike, the Abbey Line back to Watford (and other rail / underground services) will not be running, so please factor this in to your journey planning.

Venturing a little further than previous rides, so starting a little earlier than usual! Please arrive by 9:50am so we can run through a riders register and bike checks before we set off promptly at 10am.

A mixture of on-road and offroad, using tarmac cycleways and shared paths. It is suitable for all bikes except mountain bikes (due to needing to go faster on the road sections). Road bikes with slick tyres are not advised due to some uneven and slippery surfaces we will go through. Hybrids and gravel bikes will be most suitable.

Due to the distance we need to cover, we will be riding at a slightly faster pace to ensure we get to the Waffle House before the lunchtime rush, so you will need a good level of confidence and speed on the main roads.

Also if you have a fear of heights please note we do have to cross three busy roads via overbridges so if this a problem please don't book on as there is no safe crossing point at ground level. Contact the Ride Leader if you have any questions.

Please ensure you do have lights front and back on your bike as we will be riding on some busy roads and also through some dark woodlands / under bridges!

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear a helmet as the route goes through some bumpy terrain. Don't forget a drink and a snack, a spare inner tube or two, and bring a card for the café stop and in case of emergency. You will also need a bike lock for the café stop.
