Join us for a leisurely family-friendly traffic-free cycle ride from South Park & Ride car park, Hockley Way, Winchester, to the Winchester Criterium and CycleFest 2018 in the City Centre - a great start to a day of all things cycling!

It will be a fun, social ride for all, led by qualified British Cycling Ride leaders and Breeze Champions who will be on hand to support and guide you all the way, so don't worry if you're not an experienced cyclist, or new to riding in a group!

You can find out more about the event at www.winchestercriterium.org

We are aiming to be in Abbey Gardens in plenty of time for you to get ready for the South Downs National Park Family Ride. More info:
http://www.winchestercriterium.org/family-cycle-ride/

We'll meet ready to ride at 8.30am in time for introductions and a chat about the route before heading off to follow the NCR 23 signs into the centre of the City of Winchester. We'll have some great views on the way as we cycle over Hockley Viaduct, then follow the River Itchen, and see the site of the proposed new Handlebar Cafe, Garnier Road. We pass Winchester College before the final stretch along the river and onto the Broadway from Bridge Street.

The Family Ride itself at the Criterium & CycleFest is an opportunity to cycle traffic free around a 1km city centre circuit- you'll need to register in advance to secure your place via the Winchester Criterium and CycleFest website.
http://www.winchestercriterium.org/family-cycle-ride/

The CycleFest is open from 10am until 4pm, with the cycle racing starting just after 11am, so plenty to see and do all day. There won't be a formal cycle ride back to the Park & Ride planned in advance, as people will want to leave at different times, but the route is signposted, you can speak to our staff, or you can download a map from the Winchester City Council website if you're concerned about remembering the way! You should also speak to the Leaders on the day who may be able to help guide you back if you need.

*Note there is no shuttle bus service operating on event day.

If you are an experienced cyclist and willing to help support, please send us a message. See you on 10th June!
