Starting point

Wiltshire
SN1 4EX

We'll meet at the bandstand in the Old Town Gardens (please walk your bike through the park as cycling is not permitted). We'll head out onto Springfield Road where we'll follow Mill Lane, which has been recently closed to vehicles, down to the Canal. From here we'll head over to West Swindon via Westlea Park and Shaw Linear Park to pop out at Lydiard. We'll take a short break to enjoy the views at Lydiard before heading back to Old Town via Grange Park and the Great Western Way cycle path. We'll join onto the Old Town Railway Path then head up through Okus on our way back to the Old Town Gardens. Feel free to stop and enjoy some homemade cake and a lovely coffee before heading on your way.

Route rating

Did you know it's easy to get from Old Town to Lydiard Park by bike? Using the network of traffic-free cycle paths and a few short sections of quiet residential roads we'll show you how! Away from the busy roads we'll enjoy plenty of Swindon's hidden greenspaces along the way.

As with all the 'Potter on Pedals' rides we take the quietest and greenest routes around Swindon using the network of traffic-free cycle paths and the occasional short section of quiet road.

We'll take a short break to enjoy the views at Lydiard Park.

Under 16's must wear helmets and we also recommend that adults wear them too. Bring along a drink and a snack if needed.

These rides are social rides and speed is discouraged, it's all about exploring your local area in a friendly, supportive group. There is no need for lycra (just wear what's most comfortable) and we welcome all types of cycles and riders. If you have any questions please feel free to message me beforehand :)
