Scrummy Slattery

Join Martin and Ian on a ride to Slattery in Whitefield for a culinary chocolate and/or cake feast. A circular route along the Middlebrook Trail, then through Bolton, Mose Gate Country Park, Prestolee, Outwood, Whitefiled, Radcliffe, Bradley Fold, Bolton and Heaton. We'll keep our pace at a level so that we can all stay together. Average speed about 10mph. Remember, this is not a race, but a leisurely ride at a pace to suit the slowest in the group! Total mileage 27 miles and total elevation 1000 feet.

A wide variety including main roads, quiet roads and trails with the possibility of mud through the country park depending on the weather

We'll naturally stop at the top of most significant climbs to allow hearts, legs and lungs to recover . The main stop will be at Slattery cafe and we will be booking a table in advance so it is important if you book on the ride that you are confident you can attend, then we don't get blacklisted by Slattery!.

Please check your bike over the night before the ride, tyres inflated, all bolts tight, lubricated. Clothing, helmet & lights checked and ready. Please ensure you have a pump and a couple of spare tubes in case of punctures and a good secure lock. Please be at the start point at least 15 mins before the ride start time, (9.15) ready to ride, so that we can get away at the stated start time of 9.30. We can't afford to wait as we have to get to Slattery on time for our table reservation. Although helmets are only recommended by law and not deemed to be essential, anyone not wearing a helmet will not be able to join the ride. Don’t forget your pennies/pounds for the café stop. Please ensure you bring along a drink for the ride It would be great to have some new & some familiar faces on this ride, you're all welcome & I look forward to riding with you.
