Pack your buckets and spades, we’re off to the seaside!

NOTE: This is a one way ride. We will return by train early evening.

Our scenic 78 mile route is undulating with a some short steep hills as well as some longer climbs and descents. We’ll head out through Odiham, Herriard and the Candovers to Kingsworthy where, after 25 miles we’ll make our first stop for coffee.

Our route continues through Crawley and Kings Sombourne , following the test valley to Mottisfont and then onto Shootash and West Wellow. Our second stop is at approx 50 miles where we can treat ourselves to a delicious ice cream.

We cross the New Forrest to Ringwood via Bramshaw and Linwood and then on to Bransgrove and Highcliffe where we will hopefully get our fist view of the sea. From there it’s only a couple of miles to Mudeford, our final destination at 75 miles.

We will return to Fleet by train. There is a direct train at 18 minutes past each hour. For those wishing to travel to Hook or Winchfield please change at Basingstoke. Our starting point is a short cycle ride from Winchfield station.

We will meet on the corner of Pale Lane outside the Barley Mow Pub at 8.50 so we are ready to set off promptly at 9.00.

We are aiming to arrive in Mudeford late afternoon, and will aim to catch either the 17.18 train to Fleet arriving at 18.54 or the 18.18 train arriving Fleet at 19.54. (6 hours cycling / 13.5mph average).

The wearing of a helmet is mandatory for this ride. Also, as we'll be riding for up to 2 hours between cafe stops please bring enough food and drink to last you for the ride. Also, bring a spare inner tube and pump. Depending upon the weather a light jacket may also be useful for the journey home.

NOTE: This ride is for the more experienced rider who is capable of tackling some hills and sustaining an average speed of around 13.5-14mph over the distance.
