We will cycle for about 6 miles using Stevenage cycleways passing through green spaces and parkland. We sometimes need to use a quiet road section to link up parts of the cycleway network. There are some gentle inclines but we always wait for each other at the top. The ride is suitable for all types of bicycle.

Six Miles in Stevenage - watch Spring unfold into Summer

We will use Stevenage cycleways extensively with just a few quiet roads to connect up our route when necessary.

Costello’s cafe, near the cycle hub, is usually open if you arrive before the ride. On the way round we are in no hurry and stop if we wish.

The ride is suitable for normal clothing and footwear. Bring an extra layer and/or waterproof if the forecast suggests that would be a good idea. We are never a great distance from the start but bring an inner tube that fits your cycle just in case. Well pumped up tyres are always a good idea!

This ride is particularly suitable for new cyclists and those who have not cycled for a while. I lead the ride as a lovely detour on my way home from work each Friday; if you are thinking cycling more regularly as part of your own routines, these rides are a great way to get to know some useful cycleway routes. Do you need to hire a bicycle to join this ride? Contact the Cycle Hub on 07379229318 at least 24hrs beforehand to arrange.
