Skiddaw House

This is a out and back ride to see Skiddaw House, Britain's highest hostel. The ride is approximately 9 miles and is only suitable for mountain bikes due to the nature of the tracks. We will start by climbing uphill on road to the Blencathra Centre. From here we will continue to climb on tracks all the way to Skiddaw House. These can be rough and rocky at times and you need to be prepared for some rough riding. After a break at Skiddaw House we will return the same way as we came and then have cake at Threlkeld Coffee Shop.
Mountain bikes are essential for this ride and so is a helmet. You will also need to come dressed for the weather, have a waterproof with you, a drink and a snack.
Please carry a spare inner tube, just in case you need it. As the route can be wet and muddy, a spare change of clothing for after the ride is also advisable.
We will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim of the ride is to have a fun sociable ride in the company of other women, build up confidence in our riding in a supportive group environment, as well ask questions about bikes and riding, and make links with others. All welcome and we will not leave anyone behind
This ride will follow all current social distancing requirements and numbers on the ride are limited. I would ask that if you are showing any symptoms of Covid 19 or if you have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms of Covid 19 you do no come on the ride.
