Note you must register on Eventbrite at
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/flood-risk-cycle-ride-peckham-to-tower-bridge-loop-tickets-210750629807. This is to allow us to limit numbers as we post information to several locations. If you do register here you may get a confirmation. I am afraid this does not over-ride the Eventbrite registration. If Eventbrite says the ride is full, then that is correct. You can join the Wait List on Eventbrite and may get lucky.
Maybe appropriately, last time we tried this ride there was very heavy rain and this vastly reduced numbers. Hoping for less precipitation we are trying again. Start/finish in Peckham Square, next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre. 10am start. Simon S. in his role as Climate Safe Streets champion for Southwark Cyclists has planned this ride to highlight the risk of flooding in London, something that will increase with global warming. Route will go between the river and the projected 2030 flood line. Route passes many points of interest including Stompie the tank, Del boy’s Reliant Robin, some WWII stretchers, Iliffe Yard artisan workshops and Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens (Pasley Park). Will be about 10miles, 2.5 hours which gives us time for a coffee stop at the Little Cat Café in Myatt's Field Park. Will as usual ride as much as possible on quiet streets and paths.
Flat route suitable for all types of cyclist
Mostly quiet streets, some paths in parks, occasional short stretch on busy road.
Several stops of places of interest. No coffee stop as only 2 hour ride
Just yourself and your bike!
First-timers welcome!
