Stroll in the Park loop, Croydon to The Oaks to Carshalton Grove and Beddington Park
On Sunday the 19th we will have a shorter than usual ride from Queens Gardens to The Oaks park in Woodmansterne for refreshments and a stroll on the woodland paths. The way back takes us to Carshalton Grove with its ponds and Beddington Park and Wandle Park. The Oaks has a good cafe with tables among the trees and a clean new toilet block. It has some pretty paths through its woods too, and we can stroll there in one or more groups and meet back at the cafe.
You can cross the road from Oaks Park to visit Mayfield Lavender Farm for free by staying on the signposted right of way which crosses the lavender plots. We are having a ramble in the Oaks park mixed with refreshments by the cafe.
The total distance is 13.3 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes cycling. We will set off at 10am and will be in The Oaks by 10:45.
There is a little off-road riding but it is not hard on tyres. I don't recommend very narrow tyres on a road bike but other bikes will be fine. Please bring a spare inner tube.
Meet at Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. Returning to Queens Gardens 1:30pm
