Our ‘fun in the sun’ series kicks off with a ride to Kingsworthy and a visit to the Cafe at Winchester Coffee Roasters.
Our scenic 63 mile route is undulating with a some short steep hills as well as some longer climbs and descents. We’ll head out through Crondall en route to Froyle, Lasham and Bentworth where we’ll take the country lanes to Wield before bypassing Alresford. Our well earned cafe stop comes after about 30 miles and I am assured that besides excellent coffee there are delicious cakes to feast on.
Our route home starts with short climb before heading out across some beautiful countryside towards Micheldever, East Stratton and The Candovers before returning to Winchfield via Upton Grey and Odiham .
We will meet on the corner of Pale Lane outside the Barley Mow Pub at 8.55 so we are ready to set off promptly at 9.00.
We are aiming to be back by 2.30-3.00 (4.5 hours cycling / 14mph average).
The wearing of a helmet is mandatory for this ride. Also, as we'll be riding for up to 2.5 hours before our cafe stop please bring enough food and drink to last you for the ride. Also, bring a spare inner tube and pump.
NOTE: This ride is for the more experienced rider who feels confident with cycling in a group, tackling hills and sustaining an average speed of around 14mph over the distance.
