Meet at the Heart of Hawick and pedal out the A7 towards Martins Bridge turning up the steady road to Roberton. Take a left and stay on this road till you see the sign for Craik Forest, This is a lovely route and the road surface lovely for most of it. There is no cafe at Craik so either take a wee something with you or why not stop off at the Pavillion Cafe at the park when you get back to Hawick.
