This is no ordinary cycle ride. So bring your flipflops and be prepared to ford a river on this magnificent guided bike ride.

Join Sustrans and PL21 Transition Town Initiative volunteers on a ride to discover some of South Hams beautiful coastline.

We'll cycle along a tidal road and cross an estuary at low tide. This circular ride starts in Ivybridge and will follow rural lanes passing through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and small hidden villages.

About the ride

We'll be using National Route 28 and similar quiet roads to enjoy the countryside and coastline. The distance is 25 miles and we will stop for refreshments en route.

We will be crossing the estuary of the River Erme which involves fording the river and crossing a sand bar. A short length of the route will also include an unmade road where walking may be necessary.

Extras you need to know

The route is of moderate difficulty. We recommend bikes should be cross country or similar type and E-bikes are not suitable.

The ride is suitable for children age 14 years and over provided they are supervised by their parents.
