A simple route from Swansea Railway Station to Singleton Campus, designed to work with the Santander Cycles hire scheme, which means a short walk to begin with. The route is quicker than walking all the way, and cheaper than the bus. The start time is chosen to fit with the 07.50 arrival from Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot, and closer stations.
Riders can bring their own bikes or hire a Santander Cycle (register at
https://www.santandercycles.co.uk/swansea).
Helmets are recommended but are not required for the hire bikes.
The closest Santander Cycles dock is at the leisure centre, which is around 1 km (10-15 minutes walk). We will walk there following a signposted cycle route (unless everyone has their own bike, in which case we will cycle), which is partly in marked lanes on the road (currently compromised by the roadworks) and partly on dedicated cycle track.
The ride from the Santander dock to the Singleton campus takes then around 15 minutes at a leisurely pace.
