Please note we will be due to return to Syon between 14.15 - 14.45, not the time indicated below.

This women-only ride is mainly on quieter roads to Twickenham then to and across Kingston Bridge to start our riverside return through Canbury Gardens. This time we will cross the Thames at Teddington Lock which marks the highest upstream point of the tidal Thames. Shortly afterwards we will stop for refreshments in the café at Strawberry Hill House, the 18th century ‘little gothic castle’ which served as art historian Horace Walpole’s summer residence.

Our return trip provides prime views of Marble Hill House and grounds and then across the Thames to the Star and Garter at the top of Richmond Hill. We should return to Syon between 12 and 12.30pm.

To join the ride you need a bike in full working order so please check beforehand that the brakes work, the wheels spin freely and the tyres are pumped up. Dress for the weather, remembering gloves and avoiding loose garments that could catch in your chain. A helmet, some drinking water and a spare inner tube are recommended as well as cash for refreshments and a lock for your bike.
