In memory of Dr Mark Brummell, this annual ride takes its name from Jerome K Jerome who described a Bummel as 'a journey long or short without an end - the only thing regulating it being the necessity of getting back within a given time to the point from which one started'. We follow Mark's intended ride route from his local in Freemantle Southampton to his imagined destination The Turfcutters at East Boldre in New Forest for lunch and we get live music this day by chance. The ride will finish at East Boldre but riders may return with us after lunch or make their own way back sooner. WE WILL BE FUND RAISING for CTC's Road Justice Campaign and for Cyclists Defence Fund so plse ask everyone to support you with a donation for these causes to make our roads safer to walk and ride on.
