Starting point

Oxfordshire
SN6 8AG

Country Lanes out via Uffington and Kingston Lisle before dropping into Wescott, Sparsholt and Childrey, returning via Baulking. To avoid the road works in Shrivenham which appear to be lasting for ever and moving from place to place we may adjust the beginning and end of the ride.

A new location for our coffee stop suggested by one of our occasional riders. Our route takes on a generally flat route with a little sting at the 7 mile point, but three miles later we stop at the Childrey stores for refreshments

This is road ride, most of our route is on country lanes, however there are two small sections where we may meet a bit more traffic. All bikes are welcome but you will probably be more comfortable on a road bike or a hybrid with road tyres.

Childrey Stores: Our speciality coffee is locally roasted in Oxfordshire and is at the heart of our village store. Good coffee is our passion and is shared by the village and other visitors to the store! We also serve a wide range of teas and hot chocolate with chilli hot chocolate becoming a local favourite. Each morning we bake a range of pastries for a light breakfast and the delicious range of cakes are home baked to Gill’s special recipes. We welcome walkers and cyclists enjoying the beautiful surroundings, our outdoor seating is particularly popular with walkers, cyclists and dog walkers on dry days and we even supply blankets for when there is a nip in the air and the sun is shining!

Helmets, as always are recommended. Please bring a pump and spare inner tube that is suitable for your wheels. If you need a spanner to undo you wheels please bring that too. Our ride leader is a qualified mechanic but cant carry all the spares. Don't forget Cash or plastic for the "social" bit

First timers to our Group are made welcome. No one is ever left behind. For this ride you should feel comfortable riding at 12-13 mph on flat roads, though our average will be about 10 mph. There is one short sharp hill along the way (see the route elevation profile, but it looks worse than it is) If you need to walk, don't worry we will wait for you at the top.
