The Vale of the Racehorse Ride

Out via Station Road to Ashbury, stopping in Lambourne, then North towards Kington Lisle, through Uffington, Fernham, Longcot and Shrivenham. The hill out of Lambourne is a gentle rise.

A popular loop for riders in our area, The ride starts with a bit of a challenge as just after our warm up we face Ashbury hill but it is one that gets easier as you go on. On this trip we will make a point of stopping at the famous (but well hidden) Blowing Stone (ps the stone not the pub)

We will be on the B4000 back road to Newbury but there will be little traffic

We plan to stop at Goodies in Lambourne for a well earned coffee and some nice cake

For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or card for the coffee stop.
