Starting point

EX16 4HL

This ride is for those who can ride, but would like to improve their confidence on the roads. (You need to be able to start, stop and deal with corners, slight climbs etc.) A very gentle 'Confidence booster' ride series starting at around three or four miles and gradually building up to no more than about eight miles, using low-traffic and traffic-free routes in and around Tiverton. We will be using the old railway line at times, which can be a bit muddy in places. I'll try to plot routes which are as flat as possible, but, this is Devon. There may be an incline or two - sorry! Meet at the start of the old railway line near Horsdon car park, EX16 4HL, 10am for a short safety briefing, quick bike check and some skills practices. We can all introduce ourselves, too. As soon as we're comfortable, we'll set off. We will go at the pace of the slowest rider. We aim to be an inclusive group, with a positive and supportive ethos. No apologising for 'not being any good'. We are lapping everyone on the couch. Helmets are to be worn. High visibility clothing is advised, if possible. When using the canal towpath, dismount and walk under bridges as required, pedestrians have priority. Participants must follow all necessary precautions in respect of keeping this a ‘Covid secure’ ride. You must not attend if you have been in contact with anyone who has the virus, or if you have a high temperature, cough or change to your sense of taste or smell. Social distancing to be followed at all times.

We never leave anyone behind
