This is a mixed road and track route to build confidence on roads as well as varying the terrain and views. It's a similar route to the Brockenhurst to Burley loop I lead on 19 October 2018 but with a different start point and some different sections to vary the route. You'll need to be on an off road mountain bike / hybrid because of the gravel tracks.

We start at Beachern Wood car park on the outskirts of Brockenhurst which is £free (SO42 7QD) and we head out on a cycle route which is initially tarmac but soon becomes gravel forest track past Aldridge Hill camp site. We wind our way through the Forest tracks and on to Rhinefield Road just before it crosses the A35. We cross the A35 and continue along Bolderwood Arboretum Ornamental Drive for a mile (a slight incline) and then head off left back on tracks for a short distance before hitting Lyndhurst Road which takes us all the way in to Burley. Burley is just over the half way point and we'll have a cafe stop here! We then continue along Pound Lane to Burbush car park where we start along the disused railway line track to Holmesley Tea Rooms. It's then on the main Station Road for a short distance before we take another track off to the left to keep us off this busy road whist we take a more gentle ascent on the tracks to hit the Burley Road. We continue along Burley Road to the outskirts of Brockenhurst village and then take the North Wiers track off to the left to take us back to the car park.
Don't forget to bring warm clothing/shower proof jacket, money for the cafe stop and a drink.
