Votes for Women! 1918-2018

The bicycle was a symbol of women's freedom and important for our struggle to gain the vote. 6 February 2018 is exactly 100 years since women in the UK over 30, who were householders (6 million women), obtained the vote. It was not however until 1928 that all women over 21 were enfranchised. This ride commemorates some of the women in the struggle, as well as contemporary women in politics, associated with Harrow. We will tour some of the places where they lived and studied across Harrow, Wealdstone, Stanmore and Hatch End.

Before you come please pump up your tyres, check the brakes work and the wheels turn freely. Bring water, money for a cafe stop and a bike lock and wrap up warm with gloves and warm socks.
