Come and join us for a leisurely ride around the scenic countryside to the south of Warrington. Starting from the car park next to the athletic stadium in Victoria Park, the route will take us along Black Bear Park, the Trans-Pennine Trail (TPT) and the Bridgewater Canal into Stockton Heath. We will cross the A49 on foot then continue on cycle paths and quiet roads through Stretton to the Dormouse Cafe in Daresbury where we will stop for coffee and cake. We will then return via Moore Nature Reserve and the TPT before retracing the path back through Black Bear Park to Victoria Park.

The first half of the route is a gentle uphill climb to Daresbury and the return leg is back down again. It is predominantly on cycle paths although there is one section on quiet roads between Stretton and Daresbury. It is suitable for riders of any age who are reasonably confident riding on mixed surfaces and narrow paths and the pace will be adjusted to suit all members of the group. Although much of the route is on tarmac paths and roads, there are some significant sections on gravel and sandy paths. The route is therefore most suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids with off-road tyres, though experienced riders might cope on narrower tyres.

You should bring clothing appropriate for the weather, a drink, snack and a spare inner tube to fit your bike. You might also want to bring a lock and some money for the mid-ride cafe stop. As for all rides, a helmet is advised but not compulsory
