A road ride to find Common Ground - the hidden gem of a cafe at Chipperfield. The route takes us out through Loudwater, and along Sarratt Green before descending down Red Lion Lane into a very lovely valley. There will be a short, steep climb up to Chipperfield for you to earn your reward at the Common Ground Coffee House - whether that be one of their homemade sausage rolls, avocado bruschetta, or a large slab of delicious cake! :) Common Ground is a small, independent cafe, so you will need to wait a little while in the queue if there's a number of people on the ride but as it's a Ride Social, it's an opportunity to chat to your fellow riders and the Common Ground food and drink is worth waiting for! :)

We then return along Chipperfield Common and descend through Commonwood, before returning to the Hub 'Under the Heavens' as the lanes are locally known, then climb back up to Sarratt to head back via Loudwater.

This is a ride for cyclists comfortable with some traffic and at handling undulating routes with ease. The pace will average about 10-11 mph over the rolling route. We will also be running a slower pace version of this ride, on quieter country lanes for those who want to go the distance and take on a few climbs knowing walking a hill or two is fine. Details on that ride to follow...

Please bring two spare inner tubes in case of a puncture - as changing an inner tube is faster than getting out the rubber glue. The Ride Leaders can help if anyone in the group has a puncture on the day. Watford Cycle Hub sell inner tubes from £4 new, or second hand ones for 50p patched, £1 with no patches, should you need to purchase one. Please check your bike is in good working order before the ride - especially that your brakes are working & your tyres are pumped. You can also come along early before the ride to use our track pump, or we can help you get your tyres to the correct pressure pre-ride. :)

Your Ride Leaders will be Ian Curran and Martin Stearn.
