This is an Easy-Going and almost entirely traffic-free route meandering along the Ebury Way from Watford Cycle Hub to Watford High Street and then using the cycle routes & shared space to reach The LP Cafe - which has just celebrated it's fourth birthday! :) We like this cafe & think it's a little gem you should know about to have in your repertoire of places to retreat to on your bicycle. :)
This is a ride for everyone! :) Beginners are welcome as is anyone who wants a leisurely morning pootle deluxe for coffee, cake & company. :) For people wanting to discover how to get around Watford via the local cycle routes - this one's very much for you. Families with children too are warmly welcome to come on this ride. :)
There is a short section on road at the bottom of Watford High Street but your Ride Leaders Georgia & Katherine will be riding ahead of you and behind you respectively to keep you all safe. :)
There is also a modest 60 metres of climbing on this route, which will help you practice using your gears and you need not fear as getting off your bike to walk if needed is fine. Katherine will be there to support, help and encourage you at the back. :)
We will be back in time to take part in the Children in Need Event at Watford Cycle Hub starting at 2pm, if you're happy to do a few laps to help us reach our 500 mile total and raise money for a good cause. :)
The Dacorum Cycle Hub Cafe Team are coming over with a selection of delights from their cafe to sustain our fundraising efforts, if you and your family want to make a day of it! :)
Please bring a spare inner tube as this makes it easier to fix a puncture if it happens, rather than getting out the rubber glue. If you don't have a spare inner tube, Watford Cycle Hub sell them for £4 brand new, or second hand ones for £1 (no patches) & 50p (patched).
Please make sure your bike is in good working order before the ride, especially that the tyres are pumped up and the brakes work! Watford Cycle Hub can check over your bike and we can pump up your tyres for you if you come in good time before the ride. If your bike might need a little more TLC or hasn't been ridden for a while, you can always bring it in for a free assessment; we're Not-For-Profit and promise to give you an honest assessment and price if your bike needs fixing, fine tuning or a full service...
We look forward to moseying with you Sunday morning. :)
