Watford Cycle Hub: Road, Track & Towpath Adventure to Redbourn Fete du Velo

This will be a leisurely ride to the Tour of Herts: Redbourn Fete Du Velo. En route out from Watford we will go mainly via quiet country lanes & over the Chiltern Hills before descending into Hemel, passing the newly restored Water Gardens & climbing up & over & back down into Redbourn via Dodds Lane, Cupid Green Lane & Gaddesden Lane. We will then enjoy an hour or two at the Redbourn Vete Du Velo before returning back to Watford mainly traffic-free along the Nicky Line & the Grand Union Canal Towpath.

This is a perfect ride for those who want to ride further but take it easy. The route out is Challenging in terms of the topography; the route back is more of a 'Steady' category so you can stretch yourself en route out, knowing you'll have an easier and virtually flat route back into Watford. : )

The pace will probably average 8-9 mph over the route. Please bring: a spare inner tube; a drink & snack, sun tan cream & money if you want to buy refreshments at the Fete Du Velo or enter a closed circuit race! :)
