A gentle ride using cycle paths & quiet roads on the Cassiobury Estate & through Nascot Wood to the Secret Garden...The cafe stop will either be The Rhubarb Cafe en route back, or The Cha Cafe at the end of the ride, depending on your decision as a group on the day. : ) This is a brilliant ride for anyone looking to gain confidence riding their bike, learn about some of the local cycle routes, and find a lovely little-known place to retreat too - one of Watford's hidden gems that you'll want to return too. : ) Both coffee stops are well loved and having a drink, a chat and possibly something lovely to eat too, is a cornerstone of our Ride Socials and part of the joy of cycling together on a Sunday! :)
New riders are always welcome and for this route, children aged 8 and over too - provided a caring, supportive adult is riding alongside them. :)
Please bring a spare inner tube in case of a puncture - as changing an inner tube is faster than getting out the rubber glue. The Ride Leaders will happily help if anyone in the group has a puncture on the day. Watford Cycle Hub sell inner tubes from £4 new, or recycled ones for 50p patched, £1 with no patches, should you need to purchase one.
Please check your bike is in good working order before the ride - especially that your brakes are working & your tyres are pumped.
If your bike might need a little more TLC or hasn't been ridden for a while, you can always bring it in for a free assessment; we're a Not-For-Profit, Community Enterprise and promise to give you an honest price if your bike needs fixing, fine tuning or a full service. :)
