Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

This ride starts with a steady climb up Loxley Road before passing the Nag's Head and to the right of Damflask Reservoir, up the hill and through High Bradfield. Here we’re rewarded with fine views across Loxley Valley before passing through the village and up another shorter but slightly steeper hill and a little more steady climbing before we drop down to a crossroads. We then turn right and continue a lovely swooping downhill section. After a few modest ups and downs we reach Broomhead Reservoir where an initially steady climb steepens into a final climb up to Bolsterstone. We then continue along Long Lane to Wind Hill Lane where we go down a steep descent and up an immediate steepish ascent that brings us to Mortimer Road. Turning left takes us to the top of Deliverance and a steep descent with a very sharp bend near the bottom. There is then a moderately steep climb and a couple of ups and downs before we reach the Strines Inn. After that there are a few more miles of relatively easy riding and a few modest undulations as we pass through Dungworth and drop down Storrs Lane and up Rowell Lane to return to Loxley Road.
Although there are some longish climbs in this ride and a few challenging hills, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
