This pleasant, easy ride is a great introduction to the Wheel Do It! group and is intended for those of you who have recently joined us. We'll set off from the beginning of Loxley Road and climb steadily up past the Admiral Rodney and onwards until we reach Damflask Reservoir. From there we climb up a moderate hill and take a lane that leads us down the side of the reservoir to Low Bradfield, where we'll stop for coffee and cake at the Flask End café. After that, we ride back along the other side of Damflask, which is mostly flat, and return to the start. As on any of our rides, we'll take our time and there is no pressure to go faster than you want to. We never leave anyone behind!
This ride is limited to a maximum of six participants. Please do not attend if you have COVID symptoms (new, persistent cough; fever; loss of sense of smell or taste) or if any of your household has symptoms or is isolating. Maintain social distance throughout the ride, including at the start/finish and the café stop. Bring a facemask for use at the café stop.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
This is a purely social group of like-minded people sharing a love of cycling, it is not a formal organisation nor does it have any form of legal structure. We do not profess to be trained ride leaders but do have experience of doing so. You are free to choose to ride with us but in doing so please note that you do so in acceptance that this is entirely at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss or injury suffered as a result of your participation. Please also read the terms and conditions on the website.
