Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

This ride follows a similar route to last months Wigtwizzle Wander, but in reverse. We start with a steady climb up Loxley Road before passing the Nag's Head and to the left of Damflask Reservoir. After passing through Low Bradfield we climb steadily up Blindside Lane to Sugworth Road and on to Mortimer Road, where we turn right and continue across Strines Moor. After some ups and downs, we take a right turn and drop down Moor Lane to Wigtwizzle, where another right turn takes on to Lee Lane and a climb up to Walker Edge. Another right turn takes us on to Load Field Road and straight on at a crossroads onto Smallfield Lane. This lane drops down past Agden Reservoir to bring us to Low Bradfield, where we'll stop for coffee and cake at the Flask End cafe (if the group is large we might stop earlier at the Strines Inn instead) . From Low Bradfield we just have a few easy few miles back to the start.
Although there are some longish climbs in this ride and a few challenging hills, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
