Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

This scenic trip out into the Peaks takes us from Loxley Road up the familiar climb of Blindside Lane and down the A57 to Ladybower. We then turn left at the lights and right after the Yorkshire Bridge onto a pretty little lane through Thornhill before rejoining the road to Hope. A left turn takes us onto an increasingly winding little lane that heads almost to Castleton before turning very sharply left and up a steep hill that takes us up to stunning views over Coplow Dale. A long sweeping descent then takes us down onto some relatively flat lanes before we head around to the left and pass through Great Hucklow. A steady climb then takes us to more glorious views and a stop for refreshments at The Barrel Inn. After refueling, there is a little more climbing before we drop down to Grindleford and then tackle a long but not particularly steep climb back up through Nether Padley. From the top, we head across to Ringinglow and then to Lodge Moor before the very steep descent to Rivelin Valley and back to the start. Although this is a fairly hilly ride, we'll take our time and stop for breathers/photo-opportunities if needed - no-one will get left behind!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
