Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

Here is a ride with some roads we've done before, but with a few little twists and turns and ups and downs added to keep us interested! We'll set off from Loxley Road and down the left hand side of Damflask, but instead of taking our usual route up Blindside we'll double back along the other side of Damflask. After a little bit of climbing (nothing too serious) we return to Loxley Road where we turn right and then very shortly afterwards take a left up a narrow lane that climbs moderately steeply up to Kirk Edge Road, giving us some great views down onto Damflask as we go. From Kirk Edge Road we'll find our way through the lanes to Walker Edge and then back onto our familiar route along Mortimer Road which takes us across Strines Moor and up a couple of short, steep climbs. We then reach the A57 where we drop down to Ladybower and turn left at the lights. Shortly after passing the Yorkshire Bridge we take a left turn and immediately begin a long and occasionally steep climb that takes us up to Stannage Edge and rewards us with some spectacular views. From there we have some undulating lanes and a little more climbing before we reach Ringinglow, where we have the option to stop for a coffee break at Mayfield Alpacas. There are then just a few minor hummocks before we drop down Lodge Lane to Rivelin Valley and return to the start.
Although this route has some challenging climbs, we'll take our time and stop for breathers whenever we need to. No-one ever gets left behind!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
