Starting point

South Yorkshire
S36 2DS

Starting from Trek Bicycles at Fox Valley, this ride takes us through Stocksbridge to Upper Midhope, around Midhopestones Reservoir and onwards along Mortimer Road to Wigtwizzle. From there we drop down to the end of Broomhead Reservoir before tackling a steep climb up to Bolsterstone. We then have a long descent down Carr Road that takes us to the traffic lights in Deepcar. From there the route continues to Wortley Top Forge and up the steady hill to Thurgoland, where we take a left turn. We'll pass through Oxspring and Penistone and continue until we reach the outskirts of Thurlstone where we pick up a quiet country lane and begin winding our way upwards to Snowden Hill. From there we drop down Pea Royd lane to return to Fox Valley for welcome refreshments. Although this ride is quite a hilly one with some long and in places steep climbs, there is no rush and we'll stop for breathers if we need to. No-one will get left behind!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
