This ride is for those who can ride, but would like to improve their cycling confidence. (You need to be able to start, stop and deal with corners, slight climbs etc.)

As we’ve now done a couple of shorter rides, it feels like a good time to extend our range a bit, and aim for some longer distances. For the first of these slightly longer rides we will take advantage of the fantastic, traffic-free canal towpath between Tiverton and Halberton, meeting at the Tiverton Bridge car park (link above).

I appreciate that the distance from Witheridge and the need to access a vehicle will not be convenient for everyone. However, I would like to give the opportunity to those who want to try to extend their range to do so in quite a safe way in the first instance. Next week, we will return to our normal starting point of Witheridge Sports club.

Meet at the TIVERTON BRIDGE canal car park 2pm. As soon as we're comfortable, we'll set off. Due to current circumstances, the group will be limited to a maximum of five. We will go at the pace of the slowest rider. We aim to be an inclusive group, with a positive and supportive ethos. No apologising for 'not being any good'. We are lapping everyone on the couch.

Helmets must be worn. High visibility clothing is advised, if possible. Due to current restrictions, please also bring hand sanitiser.

We never leave anyone behind

A very gentle 'Confidence booster' session of around three or four miles around the back lanes near Witheridge

We'll be using mostly back raods, but you should anticipate some traffic. I'll try to plot a route which is as flat as possible, but, this is Devon. There will be an incline or two - sorry!
