HSBC UK Let's Ride Birmingham: road closures


On Sunday 10 June, Birmingham hosts HSBC UK Let's Ride Birmingham. As part of a day of traffic-free cycling designed to encourage as many people as possible to get out on their bikes, Birmingham City Council will be closing the following roads.

The event will take place along a 5km traffic free closed road linear route that runs between Edgbaston Street next to the Bullring and Edgbaston Cricket Club.

The cycle route makes up a closed circuit that cannot be crossed by vehicles, except emergency service vehicles or at the advertised vehicle crossing points on Bromsgrove Street and Wrentham Street/Macdonald Street. Pedestrian access is available at designated crossing points.

Bus services that would normally use the roads affected by this event will be diverted for the day. Please see the Transport for West Midlands website for details of diverted routes.

The following roads that will be closed from 07:00-17:00 on Sunday 10th June 2018:

  • Moat Lane
  • Upper Dean Street
  • Bradford Street (between Moat Lane & Barford Street)
  • Barford Street (between Bradford Street & Sherlock Street)
  • Sherlock Street
  • Hurst Street
  • Inge Street
  • Essex Street
  • Lower Essex Street
  • Belgrave Interchange
  • Pershore Road (between Belgrave Interchange & Priory Road/Edgbaston Road)

Please note that there will be some parking bay suspensions in place some on of these roads in order to create a safe and sterile cycling route.
