
HSBC UK Let's Ride Birmingham is more than just a great bike ride. There’s plenty to do for all the family (even those not riding!). Here’s a sample of what’s on offer on Sunday 10 June...
Come and meet Sir Chris Hoy, who will be starting the ride off at 11.00am, visiting some of the activities around the route, and taking part in a Q&A in the afternoon.
At the main hub:
- Pick up your free HSBC UK City Ride bib and even get it personalised
- Witness the exhilarating tricks and extreme skills of our mountain bike stunt professionals.
- Get your bike checked over by trained mechanics thanks to Madison and their local dealerships.
- Try some virtual reality track cycling.
- Kids’ Zone: decorate your bike and learn new skills from British Cycling’s HSBC UK Go-Ride crew.
- Represent your city and try and top our leaderboard in the HSBC UK Let’s Ride Spin to Win Challenge.
- Enjoy fun filled activities from Birmingham based businesses and organisations.
At St Martin's:
- Bike hire from next bike and Cycling Projects Adapted bikes, Strider UK for little kids, Watt Bike Challenge to test yourself. Big Birmingham Bikes will be appearing on the main stage along with some Community Champions.
At Edgbaston Stadium:
- Take part in HSBC UK Go-Ride, find out about your local Go-Ride Club, try your arm at some cricket and relax in front of some live cricket (free to anyone wearing an event bib).
Along the route:
- Enjoy entertainment and music around the route – to keep you going (and smiling). Look out for local bands in Digbeth, Calthorpe Park, Pershore Road and the Gay Village.
- Take on the Sir Chris Hoy Speed Challenge and test your sprint skills against the best.
Around the route:
- Calthorpe Park is our friendly community hub – find a cycling activity to suit your level, everything from learn to pedal, developing confidence and challenging yourself on longer rides. All supported by our helpful instructors and ride leaders.
- Off road challenge for the kids.
- Take things easy with a rickshaw ride – or try a bit harder on a tandem!
- Adapted bikes make Let’s Ride Birmingham accessible for all.
Bike hire
One of Britain’s most innovative bike share schemes nextbike will be on hand just in case you need to borrow a bike for a day.
To access a nextbike on the day customers must register via the app or website. Use the voucher code: 298729
This voucher grants unlimited free rentals for 24 hours on 10 June (Sunday) in Birmingham. It also entitles customers to a reduced security deposit of £1.
