If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
Join us on this Steady 10.8 mile ride on the Spen Valley Greenway between Bradford and Cleckheaton. This greenway ride boasts great views and trailside sculptures and statues, all without the inconvenience of traffic. We start at Victoria Park on Cleckheaton Road, Bradford, before the greenway follows the path of the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. Keen-eyed individuals will spot the LYR boundary stones and other remnants of the old line. It has recently been converted into a dedicated cycle track, part of Sustrans’ National Cycle Network Route 66, from Dewsbury to Low Moor. The current track is freshly laid and offers a great steady route with not too many uphill challenges.
