Car Park Bamford Recreation Ground, Bamford, Derbyshire, S33 0DA

This is a lovely traffic free route apart from a very short distance between the car park at the recreation ground and the start of the Thornhill Trail. Between the car park and the trail we ride on a very quiet country lane. We then turn right past the Quaker House and take the Thornhill Trail up towards the Ladybower Reservoir. The Thornhill Trail was the old reservoir construction railway for the Upper Derwent Valley. At the end of the trail we will get off and push up the track to the dam wall (it is a steep hill!) then follow the track around the side of the reservoir. We will return by the same route. As with all the trail rides, it is ideally suited for beginners and it is almost completely traffic free. There is a very gradual incline on the outward journey but nothing to worry about! It's definitely nippy out these mornings so gloves are a very good idea along with plenty of layers. A helmet is recommended if you have one but if you don't, you can still come along. Bike hire is available from the Bike Garage which is at the High Peak Garden Centre. If you have any questions please get in touch on our Facebook page Breeze network Peak District Look forward to seeing you there!
