The Hassocks Hotel/Pub ,Station Approach, Hassocks, BN6 8HN Just by Hassocks Train Station east side or trains heading south - Meet by the Bike Hut in the car park You could catch the train and hire a bike!

We will meet at the Bike Hut which is in the pub car park, for 10.15 for 10.30am start, its right next to the train station (heading south) - so easy access, and hire a bike when there too if you need. Perfect for our Post Chrimble-Calorie burner. Part of the "Visit Hassocks" cycle routes already mapped out and available here: http://www.visithassocks.co.uk/resources/Hassocks_cycleroute_2.pdf  Route 2 is the one we plan to ride, we've made it a 14mile circuit (not 12m), mostly on quiet country roads so a hybrid or mountain bike would be preferable on this loop, we've adapted it slightly to avoid some muddy sections so a road bike may not be suitable. A leisurely-slow pace will be set so we stay together on this ride and enjoy the views of the South Downs. See the video of our last ride on this adapted route at the beginning of Dec: http://youtu.be/AHlhR45u2NU. See not much traffic! Bikes (mountain bikes) can be hired on the day if you do not have a suitable one (at a small cost, along with a debit/credit card to secure deposit). This means you could catch the train and pick up a bike when you arrive. Helmets should be worn if possible (can also be hired). We need to leave promptly at 10.30am, so please come to be ready by the Bike Shed especially if you need a bike, at 10.15pm, and we'll leave as soon as we are all ready. Please call them prior to "book" your bike, and remember to say you're on the "Breeze" ride. Hopefully you'll all be interested in staying for a pub lunch at The Hassocks after, if not lunch then a drink perhaps to discuss the ride and other bike riding opportunities. Sunday lunches are great there. Also, your partners would be welcome to join us for lunch if you wish, just let us know numbers before we start our ride so we can book a table. Come prepared for the weather - a few layers, maybe a jacket too to keep wind off and maybe rain (yes we'll still go if it rains), gloves would be really good (long figured as it will probably be cold), and good grip on your shoes. Nothing too baggy, or loose shoe laces to get stuck in the chain!  We'll stay together as a group, and it will be at a leisurely pace for this ride, hoping all will help each other and encourage everyone to participate and enjoy the area. Don’t forget to see info of other Hassocks rides we've done before and many more in the area:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Breeze-Network-Sussex-South-Downs/110526255738117 For more routes (which we hope to do as led Breeze rides) over the next few months, please see this link, which has further info about bike hire: http://www.visithassocks.co.uk/cycle-hire-cycling-hassocks-south-downs.html Look forward to seeing you there!
