Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists.
If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
This is a family friendly 'out and back' route along a popular cycle path with great views along the Derwent Valley. Red kites are often seen along the valley and the gradual climb up to Gibside is rewarded with a warm North East welcome.
The National Trust has invested in a major project to offer Gibside's visitors purpose-built, all-weather parking facilities and an improved arrival experience for pedestrians, cyclists and buses too. The local staff and volunteers want to show you that Gibside is a great local destination for people arriving by bicycle.
