Princetown by road and railway path

A very scenic route with views towards all the major tors on south dartmoor. However the route can be challenging along a bumpy railwayline and the weather has to be good as it is very high and open to the elements on Dartmoor. There are two popular cafes in Princetown and we will take some rest stops on the rough track. Our return is relatively easy along the newly surfaced road downhill, ( unless it is windy ).

A off road route to Princetown along the old railway line mtb cyclepath to Princetown. After a well deserved lunch stop we will look at the Old Princetown Church of St Michael and All Angels. We then return by road to rejoin the cyclepath near Burrator.

The route up to Princetown is an off road railway path. It is suitable for mountainbikes and bikes with wide tyres like ebikes gravelbikes etc. However unlike the plym valley cyclepath this surface is rough and stony. On our return we will come down the main B3212 to Yelverton coming off at a bridlepath just after the railway bridge.

It would be nice to stop at Foggin Tor Quarry and also visit Princetown Church after Lunch. THere is a short cut along the railway path that we can use if the rough track is too tedious. It would be nice to visit the American Cemetery but permission has to be granted on the day as we need to be escorted on Prison Land.
