If you are a fan of long, straight, steady descents where you can really get your speed up this is the route for you. However, the biggest 'Down' is actually an 'up' – Dunstable Downs, as you emerge along the ridge above gliders taking off below from the airfield. From Hemel Hempstead, you follow some beautiful lanes into the foothills of the Chilterns.
