Starting point

L3 1BY

Fery Terminal, Pier Head, Liverpool

Our ride today will take us from the Pier Head and along the Liverpool Water Front to Otterspool Park; the route is all off road, passing the new Echo Arena, over the bridge at Liverpool Yacht Club and onto the Park. ‘Otterspool’ is derived from the Old English name Otirpul or Oterpol. Otir was the Old English for otter and the location was so named because of the otters which inhabited the tidal creek and freshwater pools formed where a stream joined the River Mersey Recently improved through the ‘Pride in Our Proms’ project, Otterspool now features an attractive children’s play area and trim trail, with the dramatic coastal backdrop of views to the Clwydian Hills of North Wales. The new Otters Café will be the place we stop off for a coffee and then head back the same route to the Pier head. For those women from the Wirral who will be joining us and would like to travel on the Ferry, a save away ticket is available for £4.70 which can be used all day on the ferry and trains if you wish to get the train back. You can purchase the tickets at the ferry terminal. There is plenty of free parking at Seacombe terminal car park and the nearest train station is Hamilton Square, alighting at James Street in Liverpool. The first Ferry to Liverpool departs Seacombe at 10:30 arriving in Liverpool at 10.50am. If you are joining us from Liverpool we will meet you outside the Ferry Terminal building at 10:50am, aiming to start the ride at 11:00 after signing in and doing our bike checks. This is a very gentle ride and not too long for those of us who haven’t been out in a while!!! Newcomers to Breeze Rides are very welcome, don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. If you need to ask any questions please call me on 07742 633055 or email me at [email protected] Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. Look forward to seeing you there! Fran
