Preston Park
We're teaming up with Brighton's 8th Naked Bike Ride this year!
The nine-mile ride will start at Preston Park, in central Brighton, assembling from noon and departing at 1.30pm.
The World Naked Bike Ride is an annual and global celebration of cycling as one of the most efficient, sustainable, healthy, friendly and fun ways to get from A to B. The rides are also a protest against car culture and our destructive addiction to oil, which are fueling climate chaos, conflict and environmental destruction across the planet while also increaasing social isolation and undermining community.
We ride naked to highlight that, in spite of our vulnerablility on the road, when we are many we become safer, stronger, healthier, happier.
On 9th June we expect up to a 1,000 riders to take part in the Brighton ride. Full nudity is permitted. We invite you to dress down your body and dress up your bike.
At Preston Park there will be body paints to decorate yourself with slogans and designs, and flags to fix to your bike.
This year we are making extra efforts to create a protected space at the park, including a women's space, fenced off from over intrusive photographers (which is where our Breeze group will congregate - look for your Breeze ride leaders in red bikinis and Breeze jackets!)
A Dr Bike check-up service will be provided by Cranks.
At 12.30 we will be treated to a laughter yoga workshop.
The ride will be at a gentle pace, accompanied by stewards and some up-beat tunes. Sussex police will facilitate our passage through the city.
The ride ends, at about 4pm, at the Brighton Naturist Beach at Black Rock (near the Marina) where there will be a post-ride picnic.
Bring a working bike, flags, banners, fun provocative slogans, whistles, bells, sound systems, food, water, sun screen and smiles.
See you there, as bare as you dare!
Brighton Naked Bike Ride is part of Bike Week.
