Starting point

WA8 0DF

Catalyst Museum Car Park, Mersey Rd, WIDNES

This is a sociable ride suitable for beginners and intermediates. We'll leave from the Catalyst Museum and head down to the waterfront, this is also where our ride will finish too.  There is a cafe inside if anyone wants to finish off with a cuppa! Most of the ride follows part of the traffic free Trans Pennine route, with some stretches along quiet roads.  We will go through Pickerng Pastures and onto Hale Bank, before heading into the historic Village of Hale, famed for their giant John Middleton, 'The Childe of Hale'!  We can spend some time here exploring and maybe have a drink and a snack (unless anyone needs to head back). We will then cycle to the lighthouse, then loop back round through the village and back to the Catalyst Museum.     Please note: There is a series of elongated steps on this route - where we will need to get off our bikes and push! Great view of the river from the top!  There are also a couple of sloped ramps to get onto the Trans Pennine. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please don't worry you can still take part, but if you plan on doing more rides it may be worth investing in one for your added safety.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Its a good idea to bing along a puncture repair kit/spare inner tube - Breeze leaders will try and help you out, but we're not experts on bicycle maintenance. Breeze really welcomes new riders, bring a friend or come on your own - don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Its a great way to get back on your bike and join like-minded women, get fit and make some new friends along the way, we always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind!  Look forward to meeting you.
