Catalyst Museum (Spike Island) - Sankey Valley

This is a sociable ride suitable for beginners and intermediates. We'll leave from the Catalyst Museum on Spike Island and head down to the waterfront and crossing over the canal, this is also where our ride will finish too.  There is a cafe at The Catalyst if anyone wants to finish off with a cuppa! The ride follows the traffic free Trans Pennine route, going along cycle and canal paths.  We will go past the impressive Fiddler's Ferry powerstation which suprisingly is surrounded by green pastures and wildflowers.  We will continue on to the Ferry Inn where we can stop for a break and drink, there are fantastic views over the Mersey estuary.  Our last stretch takes us into Sankey Valley Park for a short stop before heading back.  This whole route is really peaceful, picturesque and green. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please don't worry you can still take part, but if you plan on doing more rides it may be worth investing in one for your added safety.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Please bing along a puncture repair kit/spare inner tube - Breeze leaders will try and help you out, but are not responsible for your bike. Breeze really welcomes new riders, bring a friend or come on your own - don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Its a great way to get back on your bike and join like-minded women, get fit and make some new friends along the way, we always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind!  Look forward to meeting you.
