A Breeze Ride of two parts – join for both or just part! Maryport Prom Parkrun started in October 2022, and this Breeze Champion volunteers at it most weeks. Please join me to walk, jog, run or volunteer at Maryport Prom Parkrun each Saturday in April, and then join me for a bike ride as part of the 30 days of biking initiative.
30 days of biking is a world wide initiative to get people cycling in the month of April – the challenge being to cycle every single day – whether it’s a quick spin around the block, 20 minutes on an exercise bike, or a 20 miles bike ride, it all counts.
I’ll put in the comments each week whether I will be volunteering (and if so, the role that I will be doing) or if I will be participating. Parkrun is free, you just need to register on their website and get your barcode so that you can either take part or volunteer. If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected] to give your interest. If you wish to join the Parkrun, please make sure that you are at the Prom for 8.50am. This will give you time to find me and to listen to the briefing. Remember! Running is optional, and it is fine to walk all the way around. Don’t worry about being last, there is a tailwalker who is always the last person across the line.
The ride part will start at approx. 10.15am (may be a bit earlier depending on how long it takes for everyone to complete the Parkrun and for the volunteer team to tidy up). We will complete our bike check and then we will be off. The ride will be completely traffic free, following the cycle path from Maryport to Allonby. We can either go all the way into Allonby and get a hot drink from Twentymans, Jacks Surf Bar or the Drowsy Goose, or stop just outside and go to The Moody Cow, either way please bring some money and a bike lock with you. Once refreshed we will return back to Maryport along the same route. Please keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately. Although we are on a traffic free path, high vis is still a good idea, and you definitely need to wear a cycle helmet! As well as your money and bike lock, a spare inner tube is also a good idea to have with you, just in case
First-timers welcome!
