Starting point

S41 8XB

Holmebrook Valley Park, Watermeadow Lane, Chesterfield (Meeting outside changing rooms by top car parks)

This is a lovely circular route, taking in some of the beautiful countryside to the west of Chesterfield. The ride starts at Holmebrook Valley Park (S41 8XB), which is situated just 3 miles west of Chesterfield. This ride is suited to ladies who want to progress from beginners and build up stamina and is a great ride for boosting your confidence on quiet country roads and bridleways. There are some climbs on this route but the pace will be slow so don't be worried. We will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. We will start by taking the cycle trail to the edge of the park, directly into the village of Cutthorpe. We will then continue up a quiet country road through the village and into Linacre Woods, stopping at Spire View (the highest point on the ride) for a well deserved rest and drink/snack stop. Back on the bikes, we will then drop down to Linacre Reservoirs, and do a lap of the lower 2 reservoirs, before heading out of the woods along a bridleway and back to the park along a quiet suburban road. Additional Information Please ensure your bike is in good working order, tyres are pumped, spare inner tube at the ready, along with a puncture repair kit. Some of the surfaces are slightly on the rough side so chunkier tyres are a suggestion.  Due to the time of year, some parts of the route may not be as dry as usual, so be prepared to get muddy.  This ride is not suitable for road bikes. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Don't forget a rain jacket is a good idea too! Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. Please bring plenty of water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way. Don't forget your pennies for our café stop, once we have finished the ride. We really welcome newcomers to our rides. If you have any questions for more information on all of our rides please see our Facebook page Breeze network Chesterfield. Look forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget…. Breeze are on a mission to spread the word about their rides, and need your help. If you introduce one friend who goes on to take part in a Breeze ride, you’ll receive a Breeze water bottle, introduce a second friend, you’ll be the proud owner of one of their swish Breeze Buffs, and introduce a third friend and Breeze will send you £15 of Love2Shop vouchers.
