Chester-le-Street and Consett circular

This is a 29 mile loop starting from Witton Gilbert and climbing on quiet roads up to Sacriston. From there we will continue on road to Edmondsley and then turn off to Waldridge and eventually Chester-le-Street. From Chester-le-Street we will climb up through Pelton to join the NCN7, Coast to Coast route. This will then continue gently climbing through Annfield Plain, Stanley and Consett. We will drop onto the Lanchester Valley Railway walk at Lydgett's Junction and then it's all downhill from here!! We will stop at Knitsley Farm Cafe for refreshments around 2pm and then continue the lovely descent down this line to Langley Park where we will return to the cycle path along the A691 to return to Witton Gilbert. As it's turning chillier, please ensure that you bring suitable warm clothing, waterproofs, gloves and hats (breeze buffs can be purchased from the goskyride website). Water and energy bars are also useful, as are puncture repair kits, wetwipes and pumps if you have them and don't forget some money for the cafe!. Don't worry if you haven't got all of the above, your trusty leaders will also come fully equipped!!
