Breeze Cyclofemme East Manchester – Towpaths and Trails

May 11th is the Cyclofemme Global Women’s Cycling Day. Join us for a relaxed ride of around 10 miles along canal towpaths, off-road cycle paths and quiet roads in East Manchester. Starting from the National Cycling Centre, we head out through Phillips Park and Clayton Vale, passing the mountain bike trails. After a short section of road, we join the towpath of the Rochdale Canal, taking us right to the City Centre. We then join the Ashton Canal towpath back to the starting point. The route is not suitable for road bikes due to some unsurfaced sections that may be muddy. All other types of bike should be fine. Toilets are available at the start/finish point and about halfway along the route. You are welcome to join us in the Velopark Café after the ride for some refreshment. Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack. Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too! Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.
